  1. An almond is a tree Prunus amygdalus, of the 
  2. family Rosaceae. Its is related to the peach 
  3. and apricot. Dessert almonds are the kernels 
  4. of the fruit of the sweet variety Prunus 
  5. amygdalus dulcis, which is also the source of 
  6. a low-cholesterol culinary oil.
